Blog Assignment #1

A day in my life. Follow along to see what I do during the week on a Wednesday. I thought A week day would be easier to follow because my weekends are always filled with random adventures and with that being said it would just be harder to remember to pay attention to the details. So welcome to a day in my life on a Wednesday.

8:00am

First thing I do when I wake up is check my phone. I usually have text messages, instagram, and snapchat notifications. So instantly, I have to check what is the current updates with my friends and family.

10:00am

I am at my internship on my computer and work computer computing diet records from mothers talking about what they ate throughout the day three times a week. This is always an eye opener because this is where you can tell who is actually telling the truth. If you think about it media has a huge impact about how and what people eat. They feel judged if they eat too much or too little. To an extent you have to do your best to analyze what an average person would consume.

12:00pm

Check emails and once again my social media. While I eat lunch I stare at my phone and get sucked into tiktok’s and instagram feed. My feed had me doubting my decisions about studying abroad. When I was a freshman I really wanted to study abroad sophomore year, but then I couldn’t figure out when would be an actual good time to go. Anyways, this year I have a ton of friends that are traveling the world and studying abroad. But in reality people post just the perfect and only good stuff on their social media allowing others to perceive that your life is amazing, with no problems. In reality nobody has a perfect life, but that is another way social media is misleading.

3:00pm

Now I am home checking my emails and going through my school work for the rest of the week. Most of my classes are online. This allows me to have some more freedom with my life outside of school.

6:00pm

Watching tv and on social media again. Using social media to communicate with my friends and sending posts to each other. I usually get hooked on clothing and I will send outfits that catch my eye to my mom. I also find amazon must haves that are organizers from kitchen to bathroom to bedroom items.

8:00pm

Watch Netflix and do some chores around the house.

9:00pm

Check my emails one last time for the day and respond to any messages that I haven’t yet.

10:00pm

Go to bed and rule I have is don’t look at my phone after 10:00 because then I am just going to stay up too late.

Conclusion/realizations:

Overall I think no matter how much people know they go on their phones, they truly don’t realize how much you can’t live without it especially when you are tracking each time you go on it. It was eye opening to me on how much I rely on my phone. I always get notifications about my phone, screen usage but you just look at those numbers and just delete the notification. At least that’s what I do. Until you really track it, you won’t realize. However, in some cases you really have to go on your phone because of emails or school. You have no choice and unfortunately our society has made such a habit of it too. It will always have pros and cons, but it always comes down to having a good balance with it.
